SOAP (Symbol of Absolute Power)

SOAP is a sculpture that takes the mirror ball as its motif, simulating the cosmos and starry skies through its light and motion. By using the mirror ball—an apparatus that symbolizes desire and indulgence—to imitate sacred and sublime natural phenomena, the work embodies the irony of humanity’s attempt to both fear and rationally simplify, and ultimately control, nature. Yet within this worldly, artificial object, one can also glimpse a sense of prayer, festivity, and a mysticism akin to silence.
